Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Foundation Piecing?

Foundation piecing is a method of block construction that uses a base, or "Foundation", with the pattern printed on it. The fabrics are placed on the non printed side, flipped over and sewn, one at a time, on the printed line. It is very easy to do complicated piecing with great accuracy.

Q. What is a kit?

A kit is all the materials needed to complete a quilt top. The kit includes all the fabric, the paper foundations, and directions to complete the top exactly like the kit picture, including the binding. It does not contain the backing fabric, or the batting.

Q. What directions are included in a kit?

All the kits include the General Paper Piecing directions, to aid in the piecing of the blocks. There is also specific directions on the cutting of fabrics, and the construction of the pictured kit.

Q. Is there enough fabric?

Yes! I always try to be generous with the fabric, I know how it is when you run out at the very end. You should always have fabric left over after you complete your top.

Q. Can I just use the pattern?

Most of the time there is a separate pattern available. There is a catalog available with a complete list of patterns and kits.

Q. How can I obtain a catalog?

Just click the email me Icon, along with your name, address, zip code and phone number. A catalog will be on it's way very soon.

Q. What if I have a problem?

If for some reason you have a problem, e-mail, phone or write. Explain your problem and I will try to resolve it.
